July is National Ice Cream Month – and what better way to enjoy it than by exploring the Great Wisconsin Ice Cream Trail?!
Here at Gather Wisconsin, we pulled together 14 of our favorite ice cream stops across the state, each with a unique tie to Wisconsin agriculture. Whether they make their own ice cream, have on-farm experiences for you to enjoy or help connect you with the farmers behind your sweet treat, these stops are sure to satisfy!

1. Lamers Dairy Inc., Appleton
Enjoy fresh soft serve ice cream or hand-dipped Cedar Crest ice cream at Lamers Dairy, made from local family farm milk. While visiting, be sure to watch the milk bottling process though the viewing windows!
2. LaClare Creamery Cheese Shop, Cafe & Goat Farm, Malone
LaClare Creamery offers a unique experience with self-guided tours, viewing windows, a cafe, retail shoppe, and goat milk and cow milk ice cream to choose from. Check out their website for a list of events happening!
3. Kelley Country Creamery, Fond du Lac
Kelley Country Creamery offers 22 flavors of farmstead ice cream daily, with seasonal and specialty flavors. It’s the “best ice cream in the middle of nowhere.” View ice cream being made as you enjoy your delicious treat!
4. Sassy Cow Creamery, Columbus
Sassy Cow Creamery offers premium ice cream and dairy products. Visitors can watch production through viewing windows and enjoy ice cream cones, sundaes and more.
5. Babcock Dairy Store, Madison
Babcock Dairy Plant produces signature dairy products for the University of Wisconsin – Madison, supporting research and teaching. Enjoy nearly 20 ice cream flavors in-store or take some home to enjoy whenever you’d like!
6. Lucky Cow Coffee and Gelato, Darlington
Lucky Cow Coffee and Gelato in Darlington offers creamy gelato made from farm-fresh milk, along with baked goods, coffee drinks, and snacks. They also feature cheese from Miester Cheese and beef sticks from Hilby Family Farm.
7. Vesperman Farms, Lancaster
With quality ingredients and time-tested recipes, Vesperman Farms has small-batch ice cream that is hand-crafted for big flavor. The shoppe offers sundaes, cookies, and other treats. From mid-September to the end of October, they also offer a family fun fall season.
8. Udder Brothers Creamery & Restaurant, Boscobel
Udder Brothers Creamery & Restaurant offers 24 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, a variety of locally sourced meats and cheeses, and even a petting zoo can be found on select summer weekends!
9. Feltz’s Dairy Store, Stevens Point
Feltz’s Dairy Store offers 16 flavors of locally made King Cone ice cream, fresh cheese curds, and other dairy products. Visitors can watch cows being milked and cheese being made through viewing windows.
10. Weber’s Farm Store, Marshfield
Weber’s Farm Store offers soft serve ice cream in various sizes and flavors, including cones, sundaes and floats, along with Cedar Crest ice cream. Enjoy a playground for the kids and a patio to relax.
11. Dylan’s Dairy, Cornell
Dylan’s Dairy offers homemade ice cream and cones, plus a fish fry-style menu featuring deep fried cheese curds, seafood, mozzarella sticks and more! Enjoy lattes, cappuccinos and classic Wisconsin Friday night fish fry.
12. Farmstead Creamery & Cafe, Hayward
North Star Homestead Farms (operator of Farmstead Creamery & Cafe) offers Sweet’s Dream, a creamy, artisan Italian-style gelato made from 100% sheep milk. Located in northern Wisconsin, this family-owned farm has a delicious treat for you!
13. Tetzner Dairy, Washburn
Tetzner’s Dairy in Washburn is a family-owned farm with a self-service store offering farm-produced milk, ice cream, and other dairy products. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
14. Crystal Ball Farms, Osceola
Crystal Ball Farms Dairy in Osceola offers milk, cheese, butter, and ice cream in their farm store. All products come in a variety of flavors and you can watch the cow being milked at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
