A festive twist on a classic, this Holiday Cranberry Sangria brings a burst of fresh, seasonal flavor to any gathering. Sangria, originally a Spanish drink, is traditionally made by combining wine with fruit, juice and a touch of sweetness. The result is a vibrant, refreshing cocktail that’s as enjoyable to look at as it is to drink. By incorporating Wisconsin cranberries into this recipe, we elevate the classic sangria into a holiday-ready, crowd-pleasing beverage.
Wisconsin is one of the top cranberry-producing regions in the world, known for its robust, flavorful berries that lend themselves beautifully to both savory and sweet applications. Cranberries bring a tart, crisp flavor that perfectly balances the richness of the red wine and sweetness of the simple syrup. The fruit’s natural tartness shines in this drink, creating a complex taste that feels both sophisticated and refreshing.
This sangria recipe combines Garnacha, a smooth red wine with bright berry flavors, with cranberry juice and a splash of Triple Sec, which adds a hint of orange. Adding fresh Wisconsin cranberries to the mix not only enhances the flavor but also gives the drink a festive look with vibrant reds. Alongside slices of orange and apple, plus a dash of aromatic cinnamon or rosemary, this drink is brimming with seasonal warmth.
Allowing this sangria to sit for a full day before serving lets the flavors meld together and infuse deeply. The result is a drink that’s rich, fruity, and slightly spiced—perfect for cozy holiday celebrations or a touch of festive flair at any winter gathering. So, let Wisconsin cranberries be the star of your holiday sangria this season!
