If you have ever dined at one of our state’s selection of supper clubs, you know one cocktail that trumps them all: the Wisconsin Old Fashioned.
This trademark cocktail is a sweetened spin on the traditional old fashioned, replacing bourbon with the candied flavor of brandy. This swap is one reason the Wisconsin Old Fashioned stands out, but the flexibility of this cocktail makes for many different variations and takes on this signature beverage.
Supper clubs have been a staple in our state’s dining culture for decades. These establishments blend down-home hospitality, comfort food and socializing into a cultural standout for the state.
From savory steaks to the buttery flavor of a fish fry, the atmosphere and flavors found in a supper club are unmatched.
Capture the ambiance of a Wisconsin supper club in your own home with this take on the classic beverage.
The addition of maple syrup paired with the sweet-tart flavor of cherry make this cocktail a nod to all things Wisconsin agriculture.
The beauty of an old fashioned is the ability to adjust to your likeness. Ingredients in this recipe may be adjusted to individual preferences. For a less sweet cocktail, substitute brandy for bourbon or opt for a sugar-free soda option.
